April 5, 2020

Good Morning,

Tomorrow we start the Continuous Learning Plan (CLP) that has been created to educate our kids for the rest of the year. We have created a CLP link on our web page so you can have easy access to the packet material. Teachers have created some great lessons that will be completed either online via Google Classroom or Zoom and if needed, paper and pencil packets. Here is what you really need to know. No one has ever done this before. I know it feels overwhelming right now looking at a schedule of classes you need to attend and work you need to complete. Take a second, take a breath and relax. You are going to be fine! We are going to help you through this.

Teachers have shared their Google classroom information with all the students at this point so all they will need to do is follow the schedule on the Zoom Schedule created to help keep everything straight in everyone’s minds as we work through this together. If you have questions about an assignment or need help completing it, teachers have created office hours that they can be reached. Here is the link office hours

Here is what you need to know about the paper and pencil packets, after talking to our kids we found that only a handful prefer the packets. That is awesome because the online work will be easier to turn in. we do not want the paper packets back, instead, you or your parent/guardian will take a picture or scan the work and send it to the teachers so they can grade the work. WiFi access has been expanded at the schools to allow for this to take place. Also, there will be WiFi hotspots in town on buses to allow you WiFi access as well. One of the hotspots is the movie theater parking lot.  The packets will be distributed on Mondays at the Middle School during lunch pass out from 11:30 - 1:30. Ms. Hizey will be passing the packets out from the rear NorthWest corner of the building (this is the morning bus stop and the staff entrance door behind the community room). IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR ART STUDENTS: If you are an art student, you need to pick up your art supplies and packet from the same space as this. Mrs. Skinner has created these packets to ensure you have everything you will need to be successful.

Every staff member in the district has worked hard to create a plan that will work for the kids. There will probably be some adjustments that need to be made in the first couple of weeks. We appreciate your flexibility in allowing us to continue educating the students in this new and exciting way. We know it is not ideal and we would rather be in the building working with them face to face. That simply isn’t going to happen. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact the teachers, Mr. Gordon or Myself via email. The school office hours are 10:00 - 1:00 for phone calls only at this time. Any phone message must be relayed to the correct person and it will take a few days to get back to you. If it is urgent, send an email.

Respectfully,
