FOR YOUR INFORMATION Census Bureau Director Steven Dillingham announced Monday evening the 2020 Census will stop collecting responses on September 30th - 31 days earlier than the previously announced October 31st deadline. The Census Bureau modified the timeline in order to meet the statutory deadline to deliver apportionment counts to the president by December 31, 2020. What does this mean? It means census bureau workers have 31 fewer days to collect responses from households who have not responded to the census - which is 32.9% of our state's population. That's 1 in 3 households! The timeframe to respond to the #2020Census has been shortened by 31 days. Don't shortchange your community, complete your census today at https://my2020census.gov/ or call 844-330-2020. The road to recovery from COVID-19 is going to be long, but we will get there. And when we do, we need to be sure that our communities have thriving local economies: fully funded healthcare in case we get sick, schools that are not overcrowded, and programs for all our kids who need them. Billions of dollars will be distributed every year for the next ten years based on the results of the 2020 Census. Complete your Census form today. The 2020 Census will direct $1.5 trillion every year to communities based on how many residents fill out the form. If you don’t complete your census, your community will get less money. After COVID-19, we cannot be left with underfunded schools, hospitals and safety net programs. Completing the 2020 Census ensures our communities get our fair share—the resources we will need to truly recover. Complete your 2020 Census today. The Census is about money and power. The people who complete the form, get their fair share of both. If you skip the census, money and power that would have gone to your community, will go somewhere else. COVID-19 has stretched our communities so thin. Don’t leave money and power on the table. Complete your 2020 Census today.

Dear Parents/Guardians of students served by Tri-County, Tri-County is working alongside the school districts we serve to develop a continuous learning plan for the students with IEPs. A group of special education providers have been working diligently to come up with creative ways for students to receive opportunities to learn during the next two months. The first week after Spring Break, parents will be receiving a phone call from the special education provider(s) their child is served by. This will be the first of many contacts parents will receive from the provider. If parents do not receive a phone call after the first week of Spring Break, it may be we do not have current parent contact information. In that case, parents are asked to email the provider with current contact information. Provider emails are on their local school district's website. Parents will also be receiving a Prior Written Notice that describes how services will be delivered over the next two months. This will not be the same type of delivery model or number of minutes as indicated on the IEP - that is impossible with the current CDC Guidance on social distancing. When school returns to normal, the IEP team will reconvene to determine to what extent compensatory services may be needed. While we are working through uncharted territory, Tri-County understands that parents are too. Many of our students, your children, have many needs which will impact day-to-day life for parents. Safety is our number one priority for students and staff, but please know that our staff already miss and are worried about their students. Stay safe during this time- we want to see each of our students' beautiful faces on the other side of this pandemic. Emily McCambridge Director Tri-County Special Education Interlocal #607 firstname.lastname@example.org

In honor of National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day, Mrs. Good’s class made the Parsons Police Department cards. The students have been learning about the community and know that police officers keep our community safe. The class asked Officer Gabbert, USD 503 SRO, to come talk to the class so we could present them with our cards. He plans to take them back to the station and share them with the rest of the officers. Fun fact: Officer Gabbert and Mrs. Good graduated together from Parsons High School in 2004.
Don't forget.....School is back in session Tuesday, January 7th! See you then!

MAP Testing this week...HWPO Go VIKES!
The past two weeks, fourth graders have been learning about different ways to help their community through our new “Wonders” reading series. One way was to clean up trash in your neighborhood. That is exactly what Mrs. Good’s class did today!! We took a little brain break and walked the blocks close to our school and picked up trash to help our environment and community. We have also learned about different ways we can volunteer in our community and that one out of four people volunteer. We are hoping to raise that statistic! Way to help your community, Vikings! Hard work pays off! Go Vikes! #randomactsofkindness
Traditional Thanksgiving Dinner
Mrs. Good’s class made Christmas paper chains to hang in the hall as a team building activity. Each team was given 30 minutes to come up with a plan and make the longest paper chain and it also had to be in a pattern. As you can see, they were so long we had to move them to the hall to measure them! Way to go, teams! #hardworkpaysoff #govikes
Reminder: Stella Wells Christmas Basket Applications are due back today. Thank you!
