Fourth Grade – Fourth grade students have learning opportunities in many subjects, which include Math, Social Studies, Reading, and Language Arts. Teachers are departmentalized in Math and Reading. Teachers plan monthly learning/culminating activities for 4th grade to do as a group together. One example is an engineering experiment, such as the egg drop.
Fifth Grade– Fifth grade students have learning opportunities in many subjects, which include Math, Social Studies, Reading, and Language Arts. Teachers are departmentalized in Math and Reading. Teachers plan monthly learning/culminating activities for 5th grade to do as a group together. One example is a Native American activity in which they will prepare friendship stew.

At Guthridge School all students attend Art and Music classes. The Suzuki Strings program, a class where students learn to play string instruments like violin, viola, cello, or bass, is available for interested students.
At Guthridge School all students go to the library at least once a week. Students are able to check out up to 3 books a week and can renew books weekly if they are not finished with them. Book talks, read alouds and research skills are done weekly. Fifth grade students get to be library aides by helping with book check ins and check outs. To encourage reading, a book fair is held every year for a week in the library.
Physical Education Class - The students learn different locomotive movements and skills through games and activities. There is fitness testing in the second and fourth quarter, which measures their strength, flexibility, and endurance.
