Help us make it safer to get to school!

Parsons is creating a Safe Routes to School Plan!

At the beginning of 2024, Parsons was awarded a Planning and Programming (P&P) grant from the Kansas Department of Transportation’s Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Program. Over the next few months, the City and Lincoln Elementary, Garfield Elementary, Guthridge Elementary, St. Patrick’s Catholic School, Parsons Middle, and Parsons Senior High Schools will be working with KDOT to create our first SRTS plan. The plan will include recommendations to make walking, biking, and rolling to school safer and more enjoyable.

As we develop the plan, here’s how you can participate to help make it the best it can be:

  • Right now! Head to our interactive webmap to let us know why you do (or don’t!) walk, bike, or roll to school; where in town you think there are issues; and what you would need to walk or bike to school more. Please submit your answers by March 17. Link: https://tooledesign.github.io/Parsons_SRTS/
  • Calling all parents and caregivers! Complete our survey to let us know how your family currently travels to school, why you travel to school the way you do, and what would encourage you to walk or bike to school more. Please complete the survey by March 17. Link: tinyurl.com/ParentSurveyParsons
