Parsons USD 503 is welcoming Emmalee Handshy to the district's teaching staff this year.
Handshy will be teaching seventh grade math at Parsons Middle School.
She received her bachelor’s in mathematics with an emphasis in teaching fifth through eighth grade from Pittsburg State University.
She taught at Chetopa the last two years, teaching all high school and eighth grade math.
“I love reading Stephen King novels or any books in that genre," she said. "I enjoy fishing and playing with my four dogs, Roxy, Max, Baby and Momo.”
