USD 503 welcomes Tyler Thompson to the Viking family this year as the new Parsons High School assistant principal and athletic director.
Thompson is the lone new administrator to the team.
Thompson completed his master in education degree at Newman University in 2015 and his building leadership certificate from Pittsburg State in May 2022.
He started his career in education as a coach at Friends University in 2010, the year after he graduated there with his bachelor's degree in education with a focus on physical education. In 2012, he took a position as head boys basketball coach at Coffeyville and taught social studies and fire science.
Thompson is married to Tara, and they have three children, Rhett, 6 and Kamdyn, 4, and Maverick, 2.
“I’m excited to be able to impact students in a new way, to be on the other side,” Thompson said. “And I’m excited to serve the staff, making their lives better, supporting them and helping maintain and build a great culture here, just be of service.”
