Joe Campmier holds up the Viking mug he won.

The May nominee chosen to receive the Vikings: Above & Beyond Award is Parsons Middle School Career and Technical Education Teacher Joe Campmier.

“I am honored to be nominated for the Above and Beyond award,” Campmier said.

This is the end of Mr. Campmier’s 3rd year in the district. At the middle school Mr. Campmier has taught communications, video and graphic productions, and currently is teaching Intro to Technology, Investigations in Technology, Career and Life Planning, and Family and Consumer Science.

His nominator had this to say: “Aside from his efforts as a respected and loved teacher, this teacher has worked extremely hard over the last month preparing a grant proposal for our K-12 students. This 21st Century grant is a huge amount of work and he has been the lead worker on this project. While myself, Mr. Gordon, Ms. Hill, Ms. Allison and others helped, this teacher did the lion's share of the work on a major grant application that will benefit all of our district, should we be selected. This grant may end up providing over $600,000 in funding, should we qualify, and a major benefit to all of our students and staff who will benefit from the great things we can make happen with this funding. This is especially true in a time where it is such a need. He saw a need and took action to make our district better, not as a job requirement but as a Viking who cares about the success of our district.”

There are many other ways Mr. Campmier consistently goes above and beyond, and students and district staff are grateful.

Congratulations Joe Campmier!
