Rick Giefer is the Director of Transportation for Parsons USD 503 and the one responsible for keeping the school buses rolling daily for routes and all activities.
Giefer stepped into the position 6 ½ years ago, when the district moved to providing its own transportation services after learning costs with a different transportation provider were expected to soar.
He manages all district vehicles, scheduling, repairs, and hiring and training of bus drivers and monitors.
He and his drivers help ensure everything is safe and operational to the best of their abilities.
“I’ve worked in three different school districts, and this is the smoothest operating one I have seen,” he said.
USD 503 is thankful to have Giefer leading the transportation department, and is thankful to all its bus drivers and monitors who work with him in serving our students. --
