Parsons Middle School eighth grade English Language Arts teacher Shannon Millar was nominated and chosen to receive the October Vikings: Above & Beyond award.
“I’m honored to be at Parsons Middle School,” Millar said.”I love the staff, students, and teaching language arts. I’m really grateful to be working alongside incredible educators.”
“This person will complete their master’s degree in December. Throughout her graduate studies, she has continued to be an outstanding educator at Parsons Middle School.
“This year she has taken on additional responsibilities including teaching a middle school leadership class, serving in our BLT and team leader and mentoring a student teacher.
“Her passion for both her subject and her students demonstrates not only her strong character, but also her commitment to helping students build meaningful connections.”
Millar taught fifth grade ELA her first year in the district. She then moved to teaching eighth grade ELA and has been in that position ever since.
“I’ve been in 503 since 2020 and looking forward to many more,” Millar said.
