PHS art students exercise their imaginations as they work on individual sculptures in ceramics class.




Mrs. Strode's third grade centered some of their learning about the many leaders of this country around President's Day. Students researched individual presidents and used the information they gathered to make informational posters they can put up to share what they learned.
Darece Waun's third grade students set about writing poetry Friday. Each individualized poem fit under the theme "The Best Part of Me.". The assignment allowed some introspection for students, and appreciation for who they are, as they learned about this form of literature.
Studying the letter "W" in kindergarten never smelled or tasted so good as it did Friday at Lincoln, as children wrapped up the week with some wonderful waffles.
SparkWheel coordinator Tanner Smith stopped by Mrs. Kennett's kindergarten class Friday and helped students with some word puzzles.
Mrs. Kennett took time to help individual students with their handwriting skills Friday, like this young man practicing writing the lower case letter "p".
Today's children might think it silly that children had books that had paper dolls in them you could cut out, and clothes you could cut out and bend the tabs on to hang the clothes on the doll. Now the clothes are a fitted with the move of a finger tip on a computer screen.

Wright Signs installed the final communication board at Lincoln School this afternoon, to help pre-verbal students and others communicate with one another in the playground setting.




Wrapping up Black History Month, Garfield teacher Darece Waun took her third grade students to visit an art exhibit in Hendershot Gallery featuring local artist Skip Smith, who is well known for his drawings and paintings celebrating Black history and Black culture.
The votes are in for the Parsons Sun's "2025 Best of Labette County Contest" and Parsons USD 503 was honored to be included among those chosen. Our own Parsons High School digital media instructor Larrian Kendricks was voted Labette County's Best Teacher, Coach Jeff Schibi was voted as Labette County's Best Coach, and Vocal Music teacherJohn Womeldorff , who directs the annual high school musicals, received the certificate for Best Live Theater Group. Thank you to everyone who voted. We appreciate you! We will continue to strive to be the best.



USD 503 administration and directors bid farewell to Maintenance Director Eric Bortz, who has taken a position in Carl Junction. His last day is Feb. 28. Thanks for all your hard work Eric! You will be missed. Best wishes!


Students in Mrs. Friess' Anatomy and Physiology class prepared for an upcoming test by practicing naming all 206 bones of the adult skeletal system and laying them out correctly in an anterior view.





Welding students work on a trailer repair project, applying skills they have learned to an everyday task of real life. Even if students don't enter the trade as a career, what they learn can serve them well into the future.

Garfield students in Ms. Perez's second grade class learned more about adjectives while doing Valentine's Day themed project. Students made strings of pastel hearts containing adjectives they felt described them. Perez's students are tough, brave, confident, nice and smart.
Students in Mrs. Quarton's history class worked on posters of famous people or events for Black History Month. As a part of their research, students discovered a wide array of famous personalities who accomplished great things in their lives, and made a difference for others'.
