Members of the C.A.M.P. (Cultural Alliance & Multiracial Pact) Club visited third grade students at Garfield today. Two foreign exchange students shared about their respective countries, Denmark and Germany. Another student shared about her Hispanic and Latino culture and yet another shared information about Japan, which is of interest to her. The third graders learned what the club is about, what students do as members and how they can join once they are in middle school and high school.

Our story this week was about a boy who teaches his class how to make a dream catcher. For a little bit of Friday fun,
students wrote about their dreams and made a dream catcher.

Some Garfield se3cond grade students earned the reward of play time in the park Friday for all their hard work and good behavior all week. While most sought out the playground equipment, a small group engaged in a little football fun. Work hard, play hard. Go Vikes!

There will be no school on Monday, September 23 for staff professional development.

We learned about dream catchers and the history of them, so of course we needed to create our own dream catchers and put one dream or goal they had on it to help it come true.

Brooklynn is my SUNSHINE STUDENT this week!! She comes to school every day, works hard, and kind to everyone!!

For the last two Fridays the kids have learned about the constitution, the jobs in the court rooms and all 3 of our government branches. Tuesday they got to watch a mock court case on zoom and be the jury. They did great!!!

Mrs. Strode's class is working great together on their partner reading to help each other build their reading skills.

Math time was filled with some creative fun as we made monsters using paper pieces that represent base 10 blocks. This goes hand in hand with our chapters on place value and the students had so much fun showing what they know.

Congratulations to another great reader who achieved 25 AR points. So proud of you!!!

Last week we talked about sequencing. After writing the steps to make a sandwich, we had to make them!

Xtramath Addition Rockstars!

Congratulations to this top reader on accomplishing 25 AR points (halfway through the end of the year goal)
