Ms. Perez's class honored Patriot Day by making memorial ribbons and learning all about the different heroes of 9/11.

Mr. Medina's class learned about Patriots’ day and the events of September 11. They got to remember Welles Crowther (a September 11 hero) by wearing a red bandanna. Welles was a volunteer firefighter that worked in the 104th floor of the World Trade Center. When the first tower got hit, Crowther started to evacuate groups of people. He saved 18 people that day and was only recognized by his red bandanna that he carried with him. Students also had the opportunity to watch the annual memorial as the my made a Patriots’ day craft.

We talked about Patriot Day today and students made paper ribbon crafts to recognize those lives lost and all of the brave people who stepped in to help one another 23 years ago today.

Shout out to this awesome young man who has shown so much perseverance in Xtra Math. He was the first in our class to pass addition. For the past week he has chosen to do Xtra Math twice a day for extra practice. He crushed it and is moving on to subtraction!

KaeDyn made his AR goal for the month of September!!

Way to go Miss Kynlee! She has already passed all her addition and subtraction facts on Xtra Math.

Xtra Math Addition Superstars

As part of our snack today, Mrs. Tierney's class sampled some homemade pear jelly on bread. We discussed how jelly is made and talked about where our foods come from besides the grocery store. The kids marveled at the taste of the jelly. Some thought it tasted similar to honey.

In science we are learning about animals. The first activity was to explore how scientists classify animals. Students were given cards with animal photos and information about them, and it was their job to sort them into categories based on their characteristics.

The school police officer stoped by for a quick recess break!

Mrs. Strode's class worked with their spelling words by sorting them by their syllable type.

Mrs. Strode's class is working in teams on kahoot to quiz their knowledge on the constitution and court room jobs.

Place Value Wars to practice our three digit numbers in second grade.

Last Friday we celebrated meeting our class behavior goal by enjoying park time and popsicles in Ms. Moon's class.

Ms. Moon's class starts the day with morning tubs. It's a great way to wake up our brains for an amazing day of learning.

Students took a trip to the park to fill out today's weather report in Ms. Perez's class! After they were finished, they stopped to play.

Mr. Medina's class would like to thank Miss Amanda for the delicious Popsicles.

Having fun learning our spelling words.
