Mrs. Martin nominated Mrs. Wiles for Staff Member of the Month. Here is what Mrs. Martin had to say about her colleague. The teacher I am nominating is feared by students. Students fortunate enough to find themselves enrolled in one of this teacher's classes may find that their fear has turned to, well, aggravation. Why? Because there is a very high bar in this teacher's classroom with regard to behavior and academic effort and ALL are held accountable to those standards. Even more quickly however, that aggravation turns to abiding respect. Respect and very real affection. When students realize that their teacher has faith in their abilities, no matter their academic background or circumstances, and will give them all the tools and assistance they need to find success, a bond forms. I've been fortunate to witness this teacher in action many times and I am always in awe. Teaching never stops in this classroom. It's pure teaching gold. The relationships forged between students and this teacher last for years beyond graduation. They regularly phone and stop by this teacher's classroom and even her home to report how their experiences with her set them up for success, particularly in the medical field. They learn much more than just content in this teacher's classroom. They learn how to be good humans. I would like to nominate LeAnne Wiles as Teacher of the Month. Congrats Mrs. Wiles!!
