A minor electrical fire occurred in a ceiling light fixture at Lincoln this afternoon. No students were present in the room at the time. The building was evacuated and everyone is safe. The building was cleared by the Parsons Fire Department and the school day will continue as normal.

USD 503 will be closed on Monday, September 7 for Labor Day.

USD 503 wants to share important updates regarding the new law the Kansas Legislature passed in the spring of 2026. HB 2299, or the Cell Phone Ban, prohibits student use and display of personal communication devices at school from "bell to bell" during the school day, including during lunch and passing periods.

In addition, official Parsons USD 503 and building social media accounts will no longer respond to direct messages or engage in comment-based conversations in response to Section 3 of HB 2299.
