The audience erupted with laughter and applause Thursday as Parsons Middle School students presented the play "The 10 Best/Worst Things About Middle School." Under the direction of Barb McCoy, students characterized the best /worst years of your life - the friends, memories, life lessons, and of course the inevitably haunting embarrassments that leave emotional scars for years to come. Kudos for a great performance!

Thanks to a grant written by Guthridge Fourth Grade Teacher Cody Holmes to Teach Kind Science, and assistance from PHS Health Careers Teacher Mary Friess, Holmes' students were able to dissect a synthetic frog and compare the anatomy with human anatomy on a model. The fourth graders, assisted in the dissection by PHS CNA students, had a great learning experience.

At around 1:30 this afternoon, the Parsons Police Department received a phone call from a male making a threat against the Parsons High School. PHS was immediately put into a Secure Hold and all other buildings were put into a Hold. Multiple Parsons Officers responded to the high school interior and perimeter.

The PPD was later notified by the State Fusion Center that multiple threats were being received statewide. This appears to be a statewide SWATTING incident.

Parsons USD 503 administrators and staff often put themselves in the hot-seat, so to say, by being targets as rewards or for fundraisers. PHS Principal Rob Barcus, Assistant Principal Tyler Thompson and Athletic Director Chris Ball were left wishing for the "hot seat" as they became willing victims subjecting themselves to getting soaked with buckets of ice water Tuesday. The sudden drop in temperatures to the 50s didn't deter these dedicated authority figures from helping the FCCLA raise funds to compete at nationals, but by the end, getting taped to a wall or getting a pie in the face probably sounded pretty good.

PHS students participated in LCC's 36th Annual High School Art Competition. This was PHS's first year to compete, and proved to be a good learning experience for how the competition is conducted and the level of work being produced by their peers at other schools. Gabby Goss brought home two second place medals , one for mixed media and one for digital art. Students are already planning for next year.
