CHC-SEK was on hand Thursday morning to provide flu shots to students and staff at Parsons High School. Each year the district provides the vaccines free of charge for those who want them. Thank you USD 503 and CHC-SEK for making it so convenient!

TTT Electric workers connect the new programmable electric sign being installed in front of Parsons Middle School. In addition to a $10,000 PACF grant awarded to the middle school, Leadership Class students helped raise the remainder of the $25,000 needed to purchase the sign.

Ceramic artist Alan Kirby demonstrated for PHS art students two methods for decorating ceramics, Raku and the use of horse hair to burn designs on the outside of pottery. Students fired their pottery in an outdoor fire and then Kirby used his homemade kiln and a propane torch to heat their pieces to temperatures around 1800 degrees to complete the design process chosen by each student. Thank you Mr. Kirby for taking time to share your knowledge and talents with our Vikings!

Parsons High School kicked off Homecoming Spirit Week with their bonfire celebration Sunday afternoon. Students showed their spirit in part by dressing to their class theme. Seniors theme: “Soccer moms vs. bbq dads”. Juniors theme: “Americana”. Sophomores theme: “Out of this world”. Freshman theme: "Celebrities." Have fun this week. Go Vikes!

Guthridge 4th grader Francine Galan and Parsons Middle School 7th grader Collin Ray participated in the Labette County Spelling Bee Wednesday, having qualified at their respective schools. The winner of the county bee was Mound Valley 4th grader Timber Blasor. Congratulations!

The smell of Fall filled the north hall at Lincoln after first grade students helped read and follow directions on a recipe to make Crockpot Applesauce Wednesday morning. Snack time will bring rewards from this group reading lesson, as each student gets to taste a sample.
