PHS teacher Linda Moore challenged her students to create blackout poetry art, also known as found poetry art, that uses pre-existing or "found" text to create something new. Students keep portions of the original text of a page, while other parts are drawn over or blacked out.

In preparation for state assessment testing Monday, Garfield 3rd grade students ramped up Friday, competing in fun, 1 minute games, like using chopsticks to pluck marshmallows from cereal. Mrs. Pollard's class took the overall win after starting out last place.

PHS Welding I students are working on personal projects right now, like Blake Blevins, who is welding angular, geometric shapes of metal together to make a deer head, and Makayla Farro-Getman, whose own deer head is made of cut pieces of silverware welded to an armature.

PHS anatomy and physiology students apply clay muscles to skeleton models for anatomical study, using reference images of the human musculature. Students follow the origins and insertions of each muscle to build them in clay and use other tools to create details like striations.

Two PHS students stepped up and visited with KSN today about the horticulture class's upcoming fundraising efforts to pay for electricity to be run to a hoop house. The school is receiving through a grant. They'll be on TV tonight! Check them out.

In a recruitment effort Thursday, PHS band and orchestra students performed for Guthridge students and their instructors shared about the various instruments students play. All ages can play in orchestra. Students can start band in sixth grade at Parsons Middle School.
