USD 503 is only three days in and Parsons students are already throwing paper airplanes in class. But of course it's Mr. Duroni's physic students who are into studying lift and drag in aerodynamics and documenting their results with the scientific method. Students divided into groups creating multiple paper airplanes, each different in its design of wings, flaps, vertical stabilizers and rudders (if any). Each plane was then put through three test flights.
The theme at Parsons Middle School this year is "Challenge Accepted." To kick things off, Mrs. Nolting and Mr. Krull told students that the Viking Time classes that were the most engaged this week would get to participate in a tug-of-war competition Friday. Four classes made the cut, and Mr. Hutley's was the end all winner of the tug-of-war competition. They are excited to see students accept next week's challenge and see who the winners will be.





Parsons' youngest Vikings got a Sneak Peek at their classrooms, met their teachers and dropped off their school supplies last night. The children were bursting with excitement to start school. Teachers received lots of those hugs they've been missing out on the last few months.
Parsons USD 503 staff was excited to welcome students back to school Wednesday to kickoff the 2025-2026 school year and students were excited to return. Let's make it a great year, Vikings!
Parsons USD 503 treated its employees to a free visit to the Sno-Shack today, helping them beat the heat of another sweltering day of summer with an delicious, flavored shaved ice. It's just another "thank you" as everyone prepares for the arrival of students tomorrow morning.
USD 503 teachers are committed to being great educators, and do so by being life-long learners. Professional development opportunities continued Monday for 503 teachers. At PHS, Tri-County Instructional Coach Jillian Brock presented on teaching students with autism, to aid teachers in everything from recognizing students' abilities and style of learning to helping them self-regulate. Greenbush Dir. of School Improvement & Professional Learning Jeanne Scheve taught about High Impact Instructional Practices and Strategies, an evidence-based series focusing on deep learning through student engagement.
Staff returned to school Thursday to begin the first of four days of professional development before the start of school Wednesday. The day kicked off with the traditional breakfast served by administration and board members as a thank you for all that will be done this year.

Once again, the amazing employees of Commercial Bank showed their appreciation to the educators of USD 503 , by cooking and serving the Viking family lunch on their first day returning to school for professional development. Bank President Ray Jacquinot also had a drawing for gift cards. USD 503 is deeply grateful for the kindness Commercial Bank continues to show to its staff and its students each and every year. We are blessed to have incredible partners like you!
USD 503 Bus Driver Amber Klonowski was recognized last week by the Parsons Police Department with a Citizen Life Saving Award for her extraordinary courage and selfless actions to save the life of a child from a devastating house fire June 5, 2024. We're proud of you Amber!

USD 503 substitute teachers were able to attend training this year providing them valuable information on district and building practices and protocols, and a greater sense of confidence in knowing what to do, from handling apps like e-Hall Pass to proper emergency responses.
503 bus drivers and monitors gathered for training Wed. They introduced themselves, shared how long they have worked for the district, and many shared the joys the job brings them. Admin and directors thanked them for being the bright spot to the start of students' school days.
